Broquet Boostmaster (B30) In Bora - 10,000km Report

Just a quick recap for you readers, I had the Boostmaster (B30) in-line unit installed in my VW Bora 1.6 (A) in March at Universal Consultants who are the sole distributors for Broquet. The B30 was 'plumbed' into my Bora's fuel line, before the injector rail. Petrol that passes through the B30 is treated by the patented Broquet metal catalyst before entering the engine. Installation was expertly done under 30 minutes. The B30 is suitable for all cars which produce no more than 150bhp.

In the May issue, I reported that after 2,567km of usage, my VW Bora 1.6 (A) was recording a fuel consumption figure of 9.1-litires per 100km traveled and that my traveling comprised about 40% of city driving and 60% of expressway motoring. It has another 5 months and my Bora has clocked up another additional 7,832km, including one trip up north to Kuala Lumpur to attend a friend's wedding. During that trip, I drove along Linkedua and then the North-South Highway and during that journey, my Bora averaged 6.2-litres per 100km. That is the best figure that I have ever achieved during my regular forays into Malaysia. In fact, what made me more pleased was the fact that this fuel consumption figure was achieved even though that there were times when I had my right foot floored on the accelerator pedal as I had to do some overtaking.

The final fuel consumption figure my Bora achieved after more than 10,000km was 8.9-litres per 100km. This figure was achieved around the middle of August and it had stayed this way up until now. My Bora's engine remains smooth and its mid-range performance is still punchy given the fact that it puts out only 100bhp (factory-specification) and that my Bora is no lightweight (about 1350kg). Time and time again, when put to the test, my Bora revs to its 6500rpm redline with ease. Overall, I am pleased with how the Boostmaster (B30) has not only made my Bora less 'thirsty' but also how it has managed to improve its performance.
